Platinum and Diamonds, a woman’s best friends forever

Diamonds are the best friends of a woman. Nothing can be more elegant, symbolic and resonant than a diamond ring. Any person who wears a diamond ring openly declares that he/she is in love with either his/her own self or with the special someone in their lives. The movie star Audrey Hepburn had a simple ring with baguette-cut diamond as her wedding ring. Again, we have Gwen Stefani, designer and the modern rocker who had the vintage style ring as her engagement ring. A 50 years old diamond ring would always be brought under the category of vintage diamond rings.

Antique diamond rings are those which are at least 100 years old as are classified by most professional jewellers across the globe and this is also cited by the government to provide the guidelines to the people for the classification of the antique jewellery. The diamond rings from the Georgian period consists of old mine cut diamond rings, pointed cut diamond rings, antique rose cut diamond rings, and table cut diamond rings. Old diamond rings from the Victorian period includes all the diamond rings from the Georgian period as well as the single cut diamond rings and the diamond rings of the old European cut. The Edwardian period introduced the diamond rings with the emerald-cut, marquise cut, baguette cut, old European cut and cushion cut. The diamond rings which are categorised as antiques and belong to the different periods of history usually exhibit similar styles and motifs. Until a family is an heir to an old diamond ring, one may not be able to guess its real age and sometimes even the experienced jewellers fail to find the exact age of a diamond ring that is quite old. Platinum with diamonds is the greatest combination a person has ever come across. It is as if both the precious metal and the gorgeous stone complement the beauty of each other. And when they are put together no one can actually stop admiring and enjoying the beauty and the effect of glamour and glitter which they produce together. Many people think both the metal and the stone to be the eternal symbol and token of love. Even the advertisements of diamond and platinum jewellery are made keeping this thought in mind. A subtle setting of the platinum allows the alternating cuts and sizes of the sparkling and glittering Antique diamond rings to occupy the centre stage of attraction. But the thought that platinum and diamond jewellery are only designed for women are not accepted as a wide range of platinum diamond bracelets and rings are also designed for men. These are designed to add glamour to man’s wardrobe. Jewellers perform a fantastic job by fusing the classic with the contemporary-the diamond with the platinum. Nowadays, couples prefer platinum diamond rings as their wedding or engagement rings. Early in the 1990s, Louis Cartier became the first person to craft and design the platinum diamond jewellery for the Maharaja of Patiala. Hence, platinum and diamonds have been put together for ages and are the best friends.
